Extreme Couponing Tip: How to Stack Coupons At Walgreens

You can find the Walgreens store coupons in the front of the store where the store flyers are. They print out a new booklet every month. They also have coupons in their flyer. They will also allow you to stack a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon on one item. It does get a little tricky at Walgreens though, and it's super easy to get frustrated if you are a beginner. Actually, I take that back. I still get frustrated with them.

You have to hand over the store coupons first or their register will emit a dreaded beep. You have to make sure you are purchasing as many items as you have coupons for, or none will be accepted.
You are purchasing two Glade candles which are on sale two for $5.00.
There is a Walgreens coupon for $1.00 off two items - have the cashier scan this first!
Then hand over your manufacturer coupons. You have two $1.00 off one item.
You have three coupons, but only two items, so you need a filler. (Fillers are cheap items and Walgreens has alot of them. I usually grab a taffy at the counter which are 15 cents, or typically they will have tomato sauce on sale for 39 cents.  If you are using a filler in their weekly ad that has coupon, make sure the cashier scans that too or you won't get the sale price.)
So, you got your candles and a yummy taffy for $2.15 plus tax or around $1 each.
Walgreens has a program called Register Rewards, which is alot like Extra Care Bucks at CVS. After you make your purchase the register reward will be printed on your receipt. You can use it for another transaction right away, BUT.....Walgreens has some restrictions. You can't use it for the same item you just purchased, or for any other item made by the same manufacturer. So if you bought Schick razors and are trying to use the register reward for Schick shaving cream, it won't work. They also won't let you use it on dairy, tobacco, lotto, gift cards......so make sure to read the restrictions printed on the reward. They will let you use it on newspapers. On Sundays, I like to buy something at Walgreens with a reward, and then I can get more Sunday papers for FREE!
